Perhaps you’ve done “all the things” to pursue traditional publishing, but that path didn’t work out. (Don’t take it personally. Less than 2% of submissions are accepted for traditional publishing contracts.) Maybe you’ve attempted to self-publish on your own, but navigating the process became, well … complicated (because it is). Or, you may be just started out—only you’re not sure where TO start.
Wherever you are in your publishing journey, we’re here to help. We have packages to suit the needs of nearly every author. And in case we don’t have exactly what you want, we offer a la carte services, so you can choose what YOU need.
Why ScrivSPA?
Editing, and Marketing, and Distribution, oh, my! The publishing world is complex, to say the least. By the time many authors reach the decision to self-publish, most have been rejected multiple times. If you have written a clean and/or Christian* manuscript, the rejections stop here. Through our QuickCrit service, experienced professional editors will evaluate your project and offer suggestions on how to proceed. Some authors require a bit of coaching before their work is ready for editing. Some manuscripts need more editing than others. There is a fee for this service; however, if you choose to purchase one of our packages or services, we’ll provide you with a coupon code that’ll deduct the QuickCrit fee from the purchase price. And if you choose to go it on your own, the guidance you’ll receive from the paid critique will help steer you in the right direction.
*We don’t publish books with explicit sex and/or violence or foul language. If your manuscript could receive a G or PG rating, it will likely meet our guidelines.
What ScrivSPA is:
We are a service provider. Many self-published authors outsource the cover design, editing, and formatting of their books. ScrivSPA is a one-stop service center designed to help match you with an experienced designer, formatter, editor, and, if needed, coach to ensure your book is professionally produced without you relinquishing your publishing rights or royalties.
We are a training center. All ScrivSPA publishing packages include video-based training to ensure our clients aren’t left to fend for themselves after being “kicked out of the nest.”
We are the self-publishing assistance branch of Scrivenings Press LLC, which is a traditional publishing company. This puts us among the fast-growing trend of small publishers who have become hybrid, meaning they offer publishing assistance services for those manuscripts that may not fit into their traditional publishing guidelines. For example, Scrivenings Press doesn’t publish memoirs, poetry collections, or general nonfiction books. Yet, with ScrivSPA, authors who write in those genres can use our services to produce professional-quality published books.
What ScrivSPA isn't:
We are NOT a vanity press. Most vanity presses retain control of a book after it’s published. The author must order books from the company (often at a high cost per book), and must depend on the company to pay them IF their book clears any royalties. Some vanity presses require authors to purchase expensive (and oftentimes ineffective) marketing packages.
At ScrivSPA, YOU are your own publisher. We do the grunt work, but our clients remain in full control of their published books. You will order directly from the distributors (Amazon and IngramSpark) at wholesale prices. You will receive royalties directly from the distributors. We will simply help you learn how to set up and navigate your accounts.
